Photo and Slide Scanning

D3Memories offers a rich set of services for photo scanning including loose prints and multi-page photo albums and scrapbooks.
Our white-gloved CareTouch™ professionals will gently handle your photos following guidelines prescribed by the National Archives. Our digital file formats and storage media adhere to genealogical best practices for long-term preservation.
We can scan loose photos in sizes up to 12″‘ x 18″ (A3 format) at 600 and 1200 DPI optical resolutions. While 300 DPI is fine for most photo scanning, we scan at 600 DPI for true archival quality images. Upon request, we can scan at 1200, 2400, or 4800 DPI, if you plan on printing at sizes larger than the original photos or editing the digital images.
Digital images are stored in JPEG format (TIFF is also available) compatible with PC/Windows and Apple systems. We can double-side scan photos with writing or information on the back.
KODAK PERFECT TOUCH™ photo auto-enhancement (color, contrast, and brightness) is automatically applied to all scanned images at no additional charge. Red eye removal and other advanced photo corrections are available upon request. Note: KODAK PERFECT TOUCH™ auto-enhancement is only available on photos scanned at 600 DPI or lower resolution.
You can request copies of both the original scanned “before” (un-enhanced) images in addition to the auto-improved images.
Scanned images are delivered as individual JPEG files that can be stored, viewed, and edited on PC/Windows and Apple computers.
D3Memorles offers optional photo slideshows on an auto-play DVD or as as an MPEG4 video file for your computer so you can enjoy an automated viewing of all your photos. Slideshows are great for birthday parties, anniversaries, memorial services, etc.
A popular and useful option are our full color photo contact sheets that show 35 thumbnail photos per page with image file names for quick review and easy reference. We can provide the photo contact sheets on printed photo paper and as digital PDF files that can be easily viewed on your computer, tablet, or smartphone with free Acrobat Reader.
Depending on the number of digital images and options you select (slideshows, contact sheets, etc.), you will receive one or more DVDs or a portable USB hard drive or USB flash thumb drive. We offer several preservation/archive quality optical storage media rated to last 100 years.
